Britannia customers who have just received the Co-operative Group’s Membership Card are encouraged not to discard other co-op membership cards, such as the new Co-operative membership card (replacing the Starcard) soon to be issued, for example, by mid-essex Co-operative Society, Chelmsford Star. Their card will clearly state the name of the Society on the front of the card and will be for use in Chelmsford Star's stores. The Co-operative Group’s card is not a 'chip and pin' card (unlike Chelmsford Star's) and therefore cannot hold personal information.
